SparkFun Electronics strives to provide accurate descriptions and high quality merchandise. If you have any problems with your order, please let us know as soon as possible! We will do everything in our power to make it right. Any reports of problems with an order shipped more than 30 days ago cannot be serviced.
All merchandise returns for a refund or credit must be within 14 days innew, resalable condition. Please see our

Many of the items we sell are neither manufactured by us, nor have we purchased them with the recourse to warranties by their original manufacturers. We cannot make any warranties or accept any responsibility for their use or misuse beyond our selling price.

Local Order Pick-Up Policy
If you'd like to stop by to pick your order up, you may do so. Things to know:
- You need to place your order through our website first. You cannot place a new order once you've arrived at SparkFun.
- You will not be charged for shipping, but a $2 handling fee will still apply to each order you place.
- "Local Pickup" will appear as a shipping option only if your shipping address is within the state of Colorado.
- You will NOT be notified when your order is ready. Please call 303-284-0979 with your order number at least one hour before you intend to arrive at our office. Orders are available for pickup between 10am and 4pm, Monday through Friday.
Backorder Policy
There are two types of backorders: Intentional and Accidental.
Intentional Backorders:
This is when you, the customer, add an out-of-stock item to your cart by clicking the "Backorder" button. We do not charge for intentionally backordered items until they are ready for shipment.
If your cart contains only backordered items, there will be no charge submitted at checkout. When the order is ready to be shipped, a charge will be submitted via the payment method you selected at checkout.
If you have some in-stock and some backordered items, you will see a box during checkout labeled "Click here if you would like us to hold your order until all items are ready to ship". If you check this box, no charge will be submitted at checkout. Once all your items are in stock, the full charge will be submitted and the order shipped.
If you do not check this box, we will charge for all in-stock items and the initial shipping/handling upon submission of the order. Once your backordered items are available, we will charge both for them and a second shipping/handling.
Please Note: If you choose to have in-stock items ship now and backordered items later, you will be charged shipping/handling for each shipment.
Accidental Backorders:
This is when our website indicated that there was stock available for your order, but we were actually out. D'oh!
We work very hard to keep our stock numbers accurate. This type of backorder is rare, but there are a variety of issues that can lead to inaccuracies. We apologize for any inconvenience.We will ship all in-stock items right away, with the backordered items shipping as soon as they are available. They will ship via the same shipping method you selected during checkout. You will not be charged additional shipping.
Order Status Information
When you place your order, it will enter through a series of steps during fulfillment.
- New Order - This indicates we've received your order
- Invoice Printed - Your invoice has been printed
- Label Printed - This follows directly after invoice printing.Many orders will be in this state until...
- Shipped - Once the packages are picked up, we send out shipping confirmations with your tracking information. Please be aware that it can take 24-48 hours for a package to move through all basic steps.
- Exception - This indicates your order needs human interaction.The most likely cause of an exception flag is a trade check. Because of the nature of some of our products, all domestic and international order shave to be checked against a trade list provided by the Department of Commerce. This flag usually gets cleared in 24-48 hours.
- Other - There are quite a few other order status flags but do not apply to the vast majority of orders. If you have any questions,please email us and we'll explain the state of your order.
Shipping Policy
General
We charge actual shipping costs plus $2 per shipment.
We ship via the United States Postal Service and FedEx. We do not use any other service.
We fill all in-stock orders as soon as possible. Due to normal variations in order volume, this may be up to 3 business days. We make no guarantee of same day shipping. Once your order has shipped, a Shipping Confirmation email, with tracking information if applicable, will be sent.
Any order, domestic or international, totaling over $300 USD will not be allowed to ship via an uninsured method.
We do not accept C.O.D. orders.
We cannot be held responsible for lost or stolen packages. We will file claims for those that are insured.
Shipping Costs
Actual shipping costs are calculated during checkout. For an estimate before checkout, please add the items you intend to order to your cart,then click "calculate shipping" from the Shopping Cart page. This will provide a list of estimates for the shipping methods available to your selected destination.
Shipping Options
Domestic
This is for shipping addresses within the United States. We offer 9options:
FedEx - (All FedEx shipping methods are tracked and fully insured)
- FedEx First Overnight - next business day by 8:30AM, later for rural
- FedEx Priority Overnight - next business day by 10:30AM, later for rural
- FedEx Standard Overnight - next business day by 3PM, later for rural
- FedEx 2-day Air
- FedEx Express Saver - 3 Day
- FedEx Ground/Home - not day guaranteed, but averages 3-5 business days
FedEx does not normally deliver on Saturday, but they will for an additional charge. Please call for details.
United States Postal Service
- USPS EXPRESS - Overnight not guaranteed, includes Saturday, tracked and insured up to $100
- USPS Priority - 2-3 days not guaranteed, not tracked, not insured
- USPS First Class Mail - not day guaranteed, but averages 1-2 weeks, not tracked, not insured
Please Note - Priority and First Class Mail packages are NOT insured.In the case a package is lost or damaged in transit, SparkFun is not responsible for replacing the order.
International
This is for any shipping address outside the United States. We offer 4options:
FedEx - (All FedEx shipping methods are tracked and fully insured)
- FedEx International Priority - 1-3 days
- FedEx International Economy - 3-5 days
United States Postal Service
- USPS Express Mail International - usually 5-10 days. Trackable,insured up to $100. Delivery is made by the destination country's postal service.
- USPS First Class Mail International - usually 2-3 weeks, but can take6 weeks or more. NOT trackable and NOT insured. Delivery is made by the destination country's postal service.
Please Note - First Class Mail International packages are NOT insured.In the case a package is lost or damaged in transit, SparkFun is not responsible for replacing the order.
Any duties and taxes for international shipments are at the cost of the customer. SparkFun Electronics is not responsible for any extra charges once the original package has been shipped. If the customer refuses to pay these extra charges, the return shipping and any additional fees will betaken out of the cost of the order, with any remaining funds being refunded to the customer.

You may pay by check, money order, Visa, Master Card, American Express,Discover, and the ever friendly PayPal. United States funds only. We do not accept C.O.D. orders.

There are no minimum orders! If you are willing to fork over shipping costs, we will gladly ship you $0.95 worth of rubber feet.
Sales Tax
All orders with a Colorado shipping address will include 7.5% Colorado sales tax on the merchandise portion of your order, unless you provide us with an exemption permit or Colorado resale tax form.
Gift Certificates
Gift Certificates are sent from Gifter to Giftee by email. We do not send out a physical certificate. In order to send a Gift Certificate that you have purchased, please follow the "Send Gift Certificate" link from the Account Information screen.
