Description: This is a very small single chip FM receiver module found in many portable media players. Based on the AR1010 IC from Airoha, the FM receiver uses a simple command set over an I2C or SPI interface. Crystal and supporting components are all on board, all you need to attach is an antenna!

This is great. I have been waiting for a digital FM receiver breakout. Have yet to try it but it looks promising.

not sure about soldering it, tho. i've never seen solder pads like that. half through, half smt? i'm not equipped for smt. would this work with pins/headers?

Is this compatible though this module seems to use AR1000 with TEA5767?

Yea - sorry about the confusion. We got two shipments. The original shipment used the Phillips TEA5767 part. The latest shipment (and the part we will carry now on) uses the much simpler Airoha AR1000. Same I2C/SPI interface, but the command structure is slightly different.

This should probably have been a different catalog number. It would stop confusion when someone posted instructions on how to interface with your products.

New example code has been posted!

Use it to test the functionality of the AR1000! have a look at the ReadMe file for more information on how to use it.

Also please note that right now the jumper on the board does not come soldered, this will change! and it will come jumpered very soon. updated pics will follow.
To use the example code, the jumper must be closed, so if you get one that is not soldered please solder it yourself or close the connection some other way.

Looks like the example code uses internal oscillator (R01 is set to 0XFFFF). I tried to use R01 setting for external XO (0xFF7B), but it's not working. Is it by design?

Wondering if anyone has tried sending data (like modem) over FM? Using the FM Radio Module Breakout Board - NS73M with this.

I've seen the Airoha site regarding this chip (http://www.airoha.com.tw/AR1000.htm) and it seems that this IC doesn't support RDS. It's possible to have the same board with AR1200/AR1210 ICs?? I suppose that the antenna could be created on a PCB: are there any ideas about the geometry & dimensions?? Thanks a lot, Settuz

Or just a module with the AR1000 instead of the AR1010. The AR1000 has RDS. Who would want to build a radio these days with RDS? :)
