Since there's quite a few people who are having timezone calculation trouble: Current time at SFE HQ in Boulder, CO

  • BSOD / about 10 years ago / 7

I have 3 strategic orders ready to be placed when my "Flash Sale" Item I want goes on sale, each for a little more than $60 so I can get free shipping on all my orders. Now if they will all just stay in stock! The suspense is killing me! Thanks Sparkfun for such great Cyber Monday Sales!

    • BUT, did you calculate how much the flash sale will be on sale for? what if that ends up bringing the total to less than $60?!

      • BSOD / about 10 years ago / 5

Of course I did, my first order was $60.33 with all discounts applied. I have been planning this since you announced it last Monday. Just had to do a little shifting around on my Wish lists this morning once you announced what was going to be on the flash sale and for the 40% off (Since we didn't know how much the flash items were going to be discounted until today).

  • BSOD / about 10 years ago / 5

All my Cyber Monday Shopping is now complete, and I kind of feel like I robbed Sparkfun... I ended up placing 6 orders (all with free shipping) for a total of $383.28 which any other day would have cost me $570.98. A total savings of $187.70! Thanks Sparkfun for this awesome sale!

    • Defragster / about 10 years ago / 1

Have to say I "kind" of agree - I saved 207.78 w/$0 shipping. I planned one order - changed it for the FLASH sales assuming stock and two orders would be better . . . my fourth order was the biggest and ruined my $65 average.

Were there really 2745 orders between my first and last order? Congratulations and Thanks Sparkfun!

      • chartle / about 10 years ago * / 1

Well i was kind of keeping track of 5v Pro Minis through the day and I think they sold over a 1,000 in 8 hours. They started with I think 1,200 and now they are out of stock.

Went back and did a quick check and a few of the flash sale items are now out of stock.

        • Defragster / about 10 years ago / 1

I see they are back now - 459 in stock. If I hadn't just gotten two generic ones - I would have gotten more than one Monday.

"Everything will be back to normal on Tuesday." it says above - one of my 4 shows shipped . . . will things ever be normal again? . . . I think Sparkfun should do this again for Valentine's day and see if the response is the same.

          • Defragster / about 10 years ago / 1

My second 3 item order shipped Thurs - I almost thought maybe they optimized shipping and sent out one box of four orders with my 1AM Monday order that went out Tuesday. It seems indeed they got slammed - hopefully in a good way!

            • we had roughly 4 times the normal orders, so yeah, we got pretty slammed.

              • Defragster / about 10 years ago / 1

Only four times? - sounds like your normal levels show a good appreciation for your product and service.

          • chartle / about 10 years ago / 1

My small order also shipped today

  • Earlz / about 10 years ago / 4

You guys are awesome. Placed an order that would've been over $100 for about $63. Finally got a RedBot and OpenLog. It should arrive just a few days before I get vacation time :)

  • BeerCannon / about 10 years ago / 3

Love the sale structure..it's almost a sport! Thanks for offering so many levels of discounts today.

    • BeerCannon / about 10 years ago / 1

I see that several of the 'flash sale' items have sold out! Great event! I think I got the last (definitely one of the last 6) RedBoard! Yeah! Hmm.. planning to make 0 more? Is this board being replaced by something newer? Or just not on the production schedule yet?

  • shawnee6d / about 10 years ago / 3

Just wanted to say thanks for a great Cyber Monday sale! I ordered a bunch of goodies for fun over the rest of the winter:)

  • Theodore Ts'o / about 10 years ago / 3

I tried using the promo code, and apparently I'm not seeing the 10% siite-wide discount. I'm seeing the 20% discount, and the diodes were 7% off, but I thought everything was supposed to be at least 10% off?

    • We should really add a feature to show promotional code discounts in the cart. As is, there's a promo code box once you hit the "checkout" button, but it's all a bit non-obvious.

      • Defragster / about 10 years ago / 1

The system worked well - good job on that.

It would be nice to get to enter the code so it showed in the cart in some way - I did four orders and managed to not forget to add the 10% as I checked out.

Showing the controlling 'local time' clock used would be nice for reference.

    • the 10% will be applied at checkout, whereas the 20% is visible as discounts on the site.

  • Member #222107 / about 10 years ago / 3

If we buy the flash sales, can those items be shipped with the items we bought earlier. So lets say we paid for ground shipping for our first order, and for all the flash sales we purchased through out the day be shipped in that ground shipping and just use free shipping on those flash sale items?

    • chartle / about 10 years ago * / 4

This is a reply from RobertC from my question on the original post. https://www.sparkfun.com/news/1322#comments

The prices will only be valid for the time in which the product is on a flash sale. So, if the Malibu Barbie Dev Kit is on sale from 1PM until 2PM, and you add the kit to your cart at 1:45 and manage to checkout before 2PM, you will get the sale price. But, if you waited around and checked out at 2:20PM, the price would revert back to it’s standard sale price (since all originals are on sale for 20% that day, so you only get the 20% off price, not the flash sale price).

So, people might end up with multiple orders. HOWEVER, since there’s 10% off for the entire day, and 20% off all originals for the WHOLE DAY, the idea is that you’d add the stuff to your cart that you really want, and wait for the flash sales. And when something comes along that you can’t live without (Malibu Barbie Dev Kit for instance), you add it to your cart, along with the other stuff, and check out. So you’d get xx% off the flash sale item, 20% off everything else that’s an original, and then 10% off your entire cart. And if that is $60 or more, it ships free.

      Does that make sense?

    • Check chartle's comment below, where he quoted me. shipping/orders will not be combined throughout the day.

    • ftrocchi / about 10 years ago / 1

I second this question. I have things I would like to purchase but need to know if they will be grouped together. Please answer ASAP. Thanks.

  • Thank you Sparkfun for the deals! I spent WAY more than I intended, but that was your plan all along wasn't it? :)

Now... what to do with 9 pro minis :)

  • robotteck / about 10 years ago / 2

Super stoked, got the SIK 50% off! Thank you sparkfun.

  • Cyber Monday: Best monday. Saved around $40 on an order today!

  • TechnoWiz2Cubed / about 10 years ago * / 2

Question: For some reason, the Cerberus cable (a Sparkfun original) is not 20% like all other Sparkfun originals... Is that a mistake?

    https://www.sparkfun.com/products/12016

    • That was just an oversight. It's added to the list and a discount has been applied. Sorry about that, but thanks for catching it!

    • bbotany / about 10 years ago / 2

The original Cerberus is listed on the Sparkfun originals page, but not the newer one with the inbuilt hub. So only the old one is discounted.

The distinction does seem a bit odd.

  • Member #133089 / about 10 years ago / 1

I got so excited placing my order I forgot to enter the 10% off code when i checked out, how stupid is that!

    • Member #185398 / about 10 years ago / 3

I did the same thing. Still, I'm incredibly happy with the deals. Many thanks to the SparkFun crew!

  • jcomito / about 10 years ago / 1

DUDE! I just got home. Cyber Monday is until midnight, not 5:59! :-P

    • chartle / about 10 years ago / 1

Only the flash sale items stopped at 6:00 PM MT. you still had the 20% off Sparkfun originals and the promo code.

  • DarkPrince / about 10 years ago / 1

The one time nothing is on my [mental] wish list. Nothing really striking me as "must get". Maybe I'll be able to walk away without the guilt? :)

  • Member #493287 / about 10 years ago / 1

How do we get free shipping today?

  • JGuthridge / about 10 years ago / 1

Guys, forgive me if I'm being dense here, but isn't the 50watt Soldering Station TOL-10707 one of your originals?

  • ihaveworms / about 10 years ago / 1

Is this not a sparkfun original: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/10707 ? I thought it would be since it is spark fun branded.

    • good question. not really. yes, it's branded, but we don't design or make it, we just slap our name on it. 'SparkFun Originals' is defined as products that we either design or build, or both. The Cerberus is on the list because we specially designed it, and have it made just for us. We don't do this with the soldering iron. We just get our name slapped on it, and have a few minor tweaks (suggestions) to the design. We also don't include items that we just bag together or bundle. We try to keep it to products we manufacture, or have a heavy say in their design. Does that make sense?

  • RyeMAC3 / about 10 years ago / 1

PS This whole thing is silly, because the money I'm saving is a wash considering I'll be paying shipping on three separate orders.

    • PepperNickel / about 10 years ago / 2

Why don't you calculate the cheapest way to get everything. Some people need to make several orders throughout the day to get everything at the cheapest price, while other can do just one signal order. It's not about just getting one item at the lowest price, it's about getting all the things you need at the lowest price.

  • RyeMAC3 / about 10 years ago * / 1

Errr!!! Curse your Mountain Time! I thought you were 3 hours back, not 2! Just missed the 40% off on the FTDI Breakout!!

  • SMLOO / about 10 years ago / 1

When I log into my educator's account all of the discounts go away. Does the sale not apply to educator's?

    • The sale is 20% off of retail, so this actually brings the price on SparkFun Originals down to where you see them every day. The system is designed to prevent you with the "best available" price, however, so when the flash sales are going on you should see those particular products drop down to 40% off. The 10% site-wide promo code is also free for you to use. So, of the three parts of the promotion, only two make a difference to you as an Educator.

      • SMLOO / about 10 years ago / 1

I went all the way through the check out process with my educator's account and the flash sale price was not applied so I did not place my order. I did get the 20% discount as well as the promo discount as well, but the power cell chargers on the order remained their original price.

        • SMLOO / about 10 years ago / 1

Just double checked. Tried the same shopping cart on my non-educator's account and the flash sale applied and I got a cheaper price. Something's broke.

          • SMLOO - Try now. The thing that does the sale pricing is pretty new and sure enough it wasn't set up for educators. That should now be fixed, and you should get some nice discount stacking. =)

  • chartle / about 10 years ago * / 1

So if I have my time zones correct and we don't have any daylight savings time issues*, as of 10:45 ET this starts in 15 minutes.

    • Our main office is in Arizona so I never know what time it is there.

  • Question. The FTDI Basic Breakout - 5V is discounted on a flash sale but it comes up on the sparkfun originals page so it is 20% off all day, is that correct? And if so why have a flash sale on an item that is already discounted?

    • you are correct. flash sales are a higher percentage off though, so you'll save more during that hour it's on flash sale.

      • I am an idiot. I just realized the timezone issue. It was between 9 and 10 Eastern when I posted that. Sorry for the question, thank you for the sales!

  • Sneak85 / about 10 years ago / 1

What time zone are the above deals in, I would assume that it is mountain time. Does it not even matter, as any product I select from any time above lists the 20% off discount in my cart?

    • chartle / about 10 years ago / 2

      Its says mountain time above.

      • Sneak85 / about 10 years ago / 1

Ah, I see the MT I missed. The products from any time slot still list with the discount when added to my cart however. Still curious whether it will go through, out of time slot, if I purchase.

        • chartle / about 10 years ago / 1

Not the flash sale items. See my post above that I copied from RobertC's reply to an earlier post from the original announcement.

          • Sneak85 / about 10 years ago / 1

Got it, I remembered Rob mentioning the Flash sale items. I was thinking that was the 20% off items in the time slots. Memory was jogged seeing the top banner.

  • JGuthridge / about 10 years ago * / 1

Looks like a great lineup of goodies

  • Member #185317 / about 10 years ago / 1
