SD/MMC Socket - Tall

Replacement: None. We got these by accident so we won't be re-ordering them. This page is for reference only.

Do you need *a lot *of space? EEPROMs not quite enough? How's 1GB sound? This is a socket used to interface to SD (Secure Data Disk) and MMC (Multi Media Card). We used it to test out our 'PIC to FAT16 on SD' routines. The SD/MMC cards use a very simple SPI serial bus as well as a 4-bit proprietary bus.

Note: This version is taller than the older version, but all other specs are the same. We have a limited quantity of these. It is about 4.8mm tall instead of 2.8mm.

    Can these read SDHC?

We have a limited quantity of these.
Is this still the case? I'm designing my own PCB and I don't want to use items I can't get hold of in 6 months time.

Yes, the quantity listed is all that we will be stocking, once depleted, we will retire this product.

How do I see the tall part? Does it stand of the PCB, ie is there a gap between the SD card and the pcb?

    • Yes, it stands taller. It has a 2mm space underneath where the SD card would be. Look at the picture with the underneath side showing, you can see two nubs at the top, those are little 2mm standoffs, bringing the height up to be taller.
