Nut - Nylon (4-40)

Replacement:PRT-10789. We are now selling these in packs of 10. This page is for reference only.

Sometimes you need to fasten something down with a nut, but don't want to worry about shorting anything. A nylon nut can save you the hassle of shorting out the ground plane on a PCB without enough spacing around the mounting hole.

Sold as single units.

  • I know that SparkFun doesn't want to become a hardware store, but would it be possible to get some nylon 4-40 screws too? Thanks.

YES, I second this. Sometimes you want to mount many devices to a heat sink, and nylon screws would be necessary.

    Are these esd safe?

    • No. However, they are magnetically inert. So they could come in handy if you need a mounting nut for use near a magnetic sensor such as a compass module.
