Pressure Sensor SCP1000-D11

Replacement:COM-09603. We have retired this product and will no longer carry it. This page is for reference only.

The D11 version of the SCP1000 is similar to the D01, but it communicates via a two-wire (I2C) interface, rather than SPI. The SCP1000 is the first absolute pressure sensor on the market to use MEMS technology.

This sensor has a 30kPa-120kPa measurement range at up to 17-bit resolution. Under ideal conditions, this sensor can detect the pressure difference within a 9cm column of air. On top of absolute pressure measurements, the SCP1000 can also measure and report temperature in the range of -20 to 70°C. The pressure and temperature output data is calibrated and compensated internally, and the communication between the SCP1000 and its host micro-controller is realized using an I2C interface.

Four user selectable measuring modes combine 17-bit resolution (9cm of air column) with low or ultra-low power consumption, or alternatively 15-bit resolution (18cm of air column) with high speed data read (9Hz) or less than 5µA and power consumption. For example, at Low Power mode, the SCP1000 has an overall resolution of 2 Pa (15cm of air column) and a power consumption of 3.5µA.

This component is a surface mountable device incorporating a circular vertical wall for easy waterproof sealing. This sensor comes in a newly developed plastic housing. Normal hot-air rework will destroy this sensor.

Note: If you plan on using this board in direct sunlight, we suggest purchasing the SCP1000 Gasket as shown below in the related items.

Any chance there is a breakout board for this chip coming out any time soon? I definitely want this I2C version over the SPI.

Just for info, VTI have issued an end-of-life for the SCP1000 pressure sensors...

"breakout board coming soon". Checking the datasheet, the pins are those used for SPI so the existing one - with silkscreen mods and maybe one "don't connect" should work.
I hope "soon" is very soon.

Do you happen to have the correct reflow profile for this, the datasheet was pretty unhelpful. Or would you be willing to share your profile, I've never flowed any pressure sensitive devices before.
    Thanks

Luckily the data sheet mentions another document called "TN51 SCP1000 Pressure Sensor Assembly Instructions", which contains the reflow information you are looking for. Here's a link to the document in question:

Sparkfun, is it worth adding this link to the Documents section?
