Yeah…It might not be the microcenter SD after all. I am at my parents and tested a couple of cards which wouldnt work on my EthernetPro and work fine with my Dad’s UNO. So I have no idea what is going on.
To all the whiners…Shutit. It amazes me how people complain when they are given things. I didn’t win anything and havnt in a single freeday and i dont feel like SparkFun crapped in my Cheerios. Grow up people.
I got this for my father for Christmas. He was working through the lessons and got stumped on the one where you run the little DC motor (Lesson CIRC-03). After finding a bad jumper wire we still couldn’t get it to work. Changed the motor to an LED and resistor to verify the transistor circuit worked and it did. Finally had to replace the transistor base resistor from a 10k to 1k to get enough collector current to run the motor. Hope this helps someone else who has issues.

I picked one of these up at Micro Center this weekend! (Very nice partnership by the way!) I thought I’d point out that I also picked up some of their elCheapo 2GB microSD cards ( Micro Center 2GB Micro SD Media Card ) and could not get either of the two to work with the Arduino libraries; ended up soldering a regular SD holder to the shield to verify…
Nothing to do with SparkFun but I just thought I’d FYI everyone and maybe help someone else avoid wasting a little time!
On also they had the retail version which includes the headers… Oh and I had to use an extra set of stackable headers for this to clear the magjack on my EthernetPro…Kinda sucky but Im pretty much over it already.
