One thing I've noticed that a lot of tinkerers neglect to do, is add a fuse to their circuits. This may not be necessary in most gadgets but is especially important in something like the "Are You Okay" gadget where it is constructed of flammable materials and has the potential to be taken to bed and/or located around other flammable materials.

A 2000 mAh battery definitely has the power to start a fire in the event of a short circuit. A gadget such as this with flexibility and no specific mounting to immobilize everything, could be prone to broken wires and shorts. A simple fuse, located as close as possible to the battery (so there is smaller chance of a short between fuse and battery) would provide a huge margin of safety and peace of mind.
