So I flashed Image v1.11 to my sd card and when I tried it on my jetson, I was just stuck on the NVIDIA screen. I’ve read through most of boards on NVIDIA and they speculate that it’s the image that’s the issue. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Does anyone have a solution?

having same report, cannot fix being stuck on the NVIDIA screen. I also tried flashing another sd card, but it didn't work neither. Did you solve this problem?

There are many reasons this can be the case (corrupt image, SD write speed is too slow, SD card not formatted to be compatible with exFAT, etc...) - If you run through the same steps outlined in this (long) forum thread https://forum.sparkfun.com/viewtopic.php?f=159&t=55708&p=226423&hilit=jetson#p226423, it covers basically everything that can be done, as far as troubleshooting goes :-D

Hope this helps, and happy sparking!

For those having issues with BalenaEtcher and the img file being compressed with deflate64. I have a Mac and I was able to workaround it by downloading WinZip. But Sparkfun should really find a different way to compress the file. 64GB on my personal computer were used and BalenaEtcher would have done everything for me without taking up that much space on my computer. Just a little annoying but it works.

      Thanks for mentioning your workaround!

I don't usually recommend BalenaEtcher, in my personal experience... I've had way too many issues with it (like this). (Note: Based on the GitHub issue, linked in the comment below, this problem may have been resolved)

That being said, I am working on a new, smaller image... I'll make sure to test dropping the zipped file directly (I don't believe that feature was available when we originally worked on the previous image).

I wanted to flash the SparkFun image sparkfun_jetbot_v01-11.zip to SD, but found that it is compressed using the uncommon "Deflate64" ZIP algorithm that is unsupported in the recommended BalenaEtcher ("Unsupported compression method: 9", see https://github.com/balena-io/etcher/issues/1499).

It would be helpful if the image was compressed with a standard ZIP algorithm.

Deflate64 isn't an uncommon algorithm, it was one of the first algorithms used. The issue is with BalenaEtcher's new method to take compressed files directly. (Note: The GitHub issue has been resolve, so the problem may no longer exist)

I don't usually recommend BalenaEtcher, in my personal experience... I've had way too many issues with it (like this). Those using BalenaEtcher will need to unzip the file first, like most other SD card flashing applications/software packages do. That being said, I am working on a new, smaller image... I'll make sure to test dropping the zipped file directly (I don't believe that feature was available when we originally worked on the previous image).

Hey! I recently assembled my jetbot but opted to use my own pre-flashed micro SD card. I tried following the jetbot setup guide through the jetbot_ros nvidia page but ran into an "I/O error" that's been preventing me from getting the motors to actually work. I noticed that the docs on nvidia's github make reference to an adafruit motorhat. Should I swap out those particular lines when configuring my jetbot and swap in any particular repo for the sparkfun qwic boards? 12c? I'm very new to all of this so any info would be great. Thanks!

Yes, you are 100% correct. The SparkFun Qwiic boards have their own package to work with the Nvidia Jetson Dev kit. The easiest thing to do is to check out the software section of the assembly guide for our walkthrough. If you want to dig for the specifics on your own check out the SparkFun Jetbot GitHub repo and you can see the specific changes we made from the NVIDIA-AI-IOT/jetbot repo.

Just finished putting my jetbot together! A couple notes that I found... 1. It's interesting that the battery pack charges with a UCB type C but the provided cable in the battery pack packing is a micro-USB. 2. The holes on the camera mount don't allow for a single camera to be center mounted. It looks like there are holes that accommodate for two cameras (which actually is nice). So, the camera is mounted off to the side for me. 3. The nylon standoff positions aren't lined up with the board. In the instructions, the images show that the base plates have symmetric holes for the standoffs, but mine aren't.

Hello and thank you for the comments. We have just finished some new photo & instruction edits that will be implemented very soon for the Jetbot build. This was originally planned in conjunction with the NVIDIA Jetson 2GB dev kit so we could roll out a Jebot for each version (4GB & 2GB) that was based on the same chassis. Unfortunately, the 2GB Jetson build was delayed due to an image issue and the updates along with it. I will ping this thread again when they are complete.

Hi, I ended up following NVIDIA's "getting started with jetson nano" guide and reflashed my SD card to jetpack 4.4.1. But now I can't access the original jetbot jupyternotebooks and the qwiic hardware won't activate. I've re-dwonloaded the jetbot files from github and installed the sparkfun-qwiic libraries. How do I "re-activate" the original functionality?

It seems that the link for the sd-card image v01-11 is wrong: actual: https://sfecdn.s3.amazonaws.com/jetbot/sparkfun_jetbot_v01-10.zip should be: https://sfecdn.s3.amazonaws.com/jetbot/sparkfun_jetbot_v01-11.zip ?

Thank you for pointing this out! The issue has been fixed. It appears we were the victim of our own "copypasta."

Hey there folks, if you are like me and received the Sparkfun kit and you also got the barrel power supply, you need to move the jumper on J48, located right behind the barrel pull. Mine came with the jumper only on one pin. Just bridge the two pins and you can use the 5a barrel port to power the bot.

    • Hi,

I am slightly confused though. The battery pack should be providing USB power to the Jetson Nano so the jumper on J48 should not be moved to the barrel jack side?
