This sample code works fine. When gator:color is directly connected to P2 and GND on micro:bit (powered via USB to laptop), the LEDs are fairly bright. When I connect to P2 and GND on Gator:bit the LEDs are noticeably dimmer. This occurs when power is through USB on micro:bit and when power is through battery pack on jst connector of Gator:bit (v1). I'm curious why.
We actually fixed this issue in V2. The issue is with the protection circuitry on the pads, which ends up dropping the voltage to ~2.3V
