You have the two comments in the sample sketch backwards...
Another interesting laser light show would be to use two motors, each on a FET controlled from a PWM pin to be able to vary the speed. On each motor mount a small mirror (preferably first surface) that is just slightly angled off of perpendicular to the motor shaft. Have the laser bounce off one mirror and then off the other motor. Can get fun Spirograph(tm) style laser patterns by adjusting the speed of the motors individually.
