Is there a limitation to how long the sounds can play for? I noticed the Little Soundie said in the documentation it can only do 5-6 seconds; does the Papa Soundie have a similar limitation?
For technical assistance, please head over to our forums and post a new topic. We will do our best to help you out. Otherwise, I know the Qwiic MP3 trigger is pretty easy to use and doesn't have any limitations that I am aware of.
this codec and library was a bit of a pain in the ass... but finally figured it out. The files have to be in order on the SD card. audio00.ogg, then audio01.ogg, then 02, you can't then go to 08.. have to go to 03 Also when you call sfx.playFileNumber(1), file named Audio00.ogg plays and when you call sfx.playFileNumber(2), file named AUDIO01.ogg plays. Hopefully you don't have to waste a couple of hours like i did!

Also, what does the Green LED on arduino pin SCK(D13) do? Is it just show when the SPI is active? I'm not using the SPI, so I thought I might use it to show when a file is playing. I'd have to use my own timers to estimate that, right? There's no feedback from the codec to tell me when a track has finished playing? Thank you!
Hello, The guide says VIN can be 3.3V to 6V while the schematic says 3.3V to 9V input on VIN but it looks like the VLSI cutsheet says 5.5V.. so I guess I answered my question?

I'm confused - how do you upload code to the soundie? It doesn't have a USB port.
For Arduino programming you'll need a 3.3V FTDI breakout board just like you would to program a pro mini. If you'd like to update the firmware on the VSLI chip you'll need the VSIDE IDE and use the UART pins on the right side of the board to program it.
How many audio files can the Papa Soundie can play at the same time?
The Papa Soundie can only play 1 audio file at a time. If you are looking to play or mix multiple files (up to 14 stereo tracks) I'd recommend the SparkFun WAV Trigger.
