SparkFun National Tour Kickstarter Update #2

Progress update on the SFE National Tour Kickstarter!

Favorited Favorite 0

It has now been two full weeks since we launched our SparkFun National Tour Kickstarter, so we wanted to provide another update. If you're not familiar with our National Tour Kickstarter, we are hoping to harness the crowd-funding power of Kickstarter to conduct a nationwide tour to show educators, teachers, librarians, and after school programmers how to incorporate DIY electronics into their lesson plans. Check out today's video:

To make a donation, please visit the SparkFun National Tour Kickstarter page. We are currently at ~$29,000 which, while a good start, is still far from our total goal. Please consider making a donation today and spread the word to your friends and family! Thanks!

I would suggest adding pledge amounts for a training session if that person's state is visited. Typically with Kickstarter projects people buy a portion of whatever is being offered (in this case training). The hardware pledges are a nice alternative as well though.

I live in Colorado so this doesn't affect me, it's just an idea.

Gotta say I didn't expect to see Michigan as the top state. Is there any way to see what cities SparkFun would go to? I wouldn't be able to go to Detroit, but Grand Rapids is a definite yes.

Pardon me while I go read the Kickstarter page now. :-)

  • That beard is getting larger and larger......are you having a SFE beard contest with Rob? And Novembeard is over!

    • I just want everyone to know that Rob has become completely insufferable about that beard. One of these days we're going to show up at his office with an angry mob waving torches and clippers.

(We'd probably need some pretty serious extension cords for the ensuing chase scene.)

(Edit so that I find my desk and personal effects intact tomorrow: NOT ACTUALLY PLANNING BEARD MOB.)

I recommend the Andis Super AGR+ Vet Pak. Two rechargeable battery packs, and a 4x4 blade drive for more torque. A T-84 Ultraedge blade seems about right for the first pass, followed by a #40SS for that baby's butt smooth finish. Note: Paste flux is not an appropriate after shave.

Perfect double-speak there, brennen. Next is a ropa-dope and cut Dave's beard off.
