Welcome, one and all, to this brisk Friday Product Post! This week we have a multitude of new products to show off! Two LilyPad products top this list today, with a new ProtoSnap board and a sleek new kit. That's not all, though; we have new Flip-Pin headers and a new Mini GPS Breakout as well. We'll also revisit the two new Intel Edison kits we released earlier in the week. We have a lot to get through today, so let's dive into our first video!

Purple never looked so good!

LilyPad Sewable Electronics Kit

Embellish your ugly sweater this winter with the LilyPad Sewable Electronics Kit. This kit lets you explore the wonderful world of electronic sewing (e-sewing) and electronic textiles (e-textiles) through a series of introductory projects using the LilyPad system. You’ll learn how to sew basic circuits to light up LEDs, control them with buttons and switches, and even experiment with a pre-programmed LilyMini circuit that reacts to ambient light levels. In addition to LilyPad LEDs and battery holders, the kit comes with two LilyPad ProtoSnap boards that let you explore the circuit before you sew the pieces into a project.

The LilyMini ProtoSnap is a great way to get started learning about creating interactive e-textile circuits before you start sewing. Like other LilyPad ProtoSnap boards, the LilyMini ProtoSnap has all of its pieces wired together out of the box, enabling you to test the circuit’s function before you sew. At the center of the board is a pre-programmed LilyMini microcontroller connected to a LilyPad Light Sensor, LilyPad Button and two pairs of LilyPad LEDs.

SparkFun Base Kit for Intel® Edison

KIT-14105
Retired

This Edison Base Kit includes all the basic ingredients you need to get started with Intel's incredibly tiny computer platform. With this pack you will be able to snap essential parts to your Edison that provide basic functionality and turn it into a modular Linux computer.

SparkFun Project Kit for Intel® Edison and Android Things

KIT-14102
Retired

The Android Things Kit is a set of hardware that, when paired with the Edison Base Kit, provides a set of hardware to start using Android Things. Android Things is a software suite that combines an embedded OS, core services, developer kit and developer console.

Maybe it's so small you'll need a Micro GPS to find it?

SparkFun Mini GPS Shield

GPS-14030
Retired

The SparkFun Mini GPS Shield equips your Arduino Mini with access to a GPS module, µSD memory card socket and all of the other peripherals you'll need to turn your Arduino into a position-tracking, speed-monitoring, altitude-observing wonder logger. The shield is based around the GP-735 GPS module, a 56-channel GPS receiver featuring a uBlox 7th generation chip set and an up to 10Hz update rate. The board also uses a level shifter, so there’s no need to worry about the logic voltage of your Arduino Mini.

Flip-Pin (8-pins)

COM-14085
Retired

Flip-Pins are a fantastic new way to add headers to your breakout board. Designed by Fliptronics, Flip-Pins are the third generation of the Integrated Circuit (IC) pins that can be soldered into a PCB and that look and act as much like an IC pin as possible. With the unique plastic aligner, the pins are held 0.100" apart, with a 0.062" solder tail exposed.

Each of the pins comes in a black plastic sleeve, to keep them aligned while soldering. Once soldered, the sleeve gets removed, and you are left with headers that can easily fit into a breadboard or IC socket with the greatest of ease. A significant feature of Flip-Pins is that their width (0.020") is the same as traditional Dual-Inline-Package (DIP) IC pins, and so Flip-Pins are directly compatible with standard breadboards.

We also offer 14-pin and 20-pin lengths, which can easily be doubled up for even longer lengths.

Phew...that sure is a lot of products. We hope you enjoy everything that is offered here today. There certainly are plenty of new products to choose from. We will be back in two weeks for New Year's Eve, as we will be closed Dec. 23 through Dec. 26. Happy Holidays, everyone!

If I'm not mistaken, the LilyMini is your first product to use the budget wonder SAMD11. I look forward to seeing more of this chip!
