This week we have five new and unique products! Without further delay, let's jump in and take a closer look:

Twist and Shout!

SparkFun Qwiic Twist - RGB Rotary Encoder Breakout

The SparkFun Qwiic Twist is a digital RGB rotary encoder breakout that is also able to connect to our Qwiic Connect System. The Twist takes care of all the various interrupts, switches and PWM'ing of LEDs, and presents all those features over an easy-to-use I2C interface. The Qwiic Twist was designed to get rid of the large mass of wires needed to implement an RGB encoder in a breadboard, enabling you to stop messing around with interrupt debugging and get back to your project! Utilizing our handy Qwiic system, no soldering is required to connect it to the rest of your system. However, we still have broken out 0.1"-spaced pins in case you prefer to use a breadboard.

SparkFun Serial Basic Breakout - CH340C and USB-C

SparkFun Serial Basic Breakout - CH340C and USB-C

This SparkFun Serial Basic Breakout is an easy-to-use, USB-to-Serial adapter based on the CH340G that takes advantage of the handy USB-C connector. With USB-C, you can get up to three times the power delivery over the previous USB generation at 1.5A, and it also solves the universally frustrating dilemma of plugging a USB cable in correctly, because it’s reversible! The Serial Basic works with 5V and 3.3V systems and possesses the capability to auto install on most operating systems without the need for additional drivers. The Serial Basic uses the CH340C IC to quickly and easily convert serial signals to USB.

Thermoelectric Cooler

COM-15082
$11.95

Thermoelectric coolers (TEC or Peltier) create a temperature differential on each side. One side gets hot and the other side gets cool, so they can be used to either warm something up or cool something down. You can also take advantage of a temperature differential to generate electricity.

High Speed Optoisolator - 6N137

High Speed Optoisolator - 6N137

COM-15105
$1.05

This diode-transistor photocouplers consist of an LED optically coupled to a high speed photodetector to transmit electrical signals between circuits, while still isolating your system from higher voltages. The 6N137 optoisolator provides you with all of this all in an 8-pin DIP package.

micro:bit Battery Holder - 2xAAA (JST-PH)

micro:bit Battery Holder - 2xAAA (JST-PH)

PRT-15101
$2.10

This is a unique, two-cell AAA battery holder built specifically for the BBC micro:bit. The 6-inch (~150mm) cable has been terminated with a JST-PH connector. The connector mates the JST socket on the micro:bit perfectly, allowing you to easily make your project battery powered.

And that's it for new products this week, folks! As always, we can't wait to see what you make! Shoot us a tweet @sparkfun, or let us know on Instagram or Facebook. We’d love to see what projects you’ve made!

Just a thought: It seems to me that it might be convenient for the customer if you'd list the I2C "default address" as a bullet point under "Features" on the QWIIC line. (It would make a "quick QWIIC" reference... sorry, couldn't resist!)

    • Absolutely! We typically like to have that added but it looks like it was missed for this one. Thanks!

I would go one step further and put the address(es) right on the board silkscreen. In this case, where there is an address jumper, put it next to the jumper and list both addresses: jumper open and shorted.

Greetings! Has anybody used the Arduino library for the Qwiik Twist with an ESP32? Cheers!
