Hello, everyone, and happy Friday! We have a shorter Friday Product Post today, but it starts with a brand new Digital Temperature Sensor that utilizes the AS6212 IC from ams AG and our Qwiic Connect System. Following that, we are going to dive a little deeper into the Toaster Oven Reflow Controller that we announced yesterday. Finally, we are going to wrap up with a new Magnetic Mount Combination Antenna. Now, let's jump in and take a closer look!

Check your temperature!

SparkFun Digital Temperature Sensor Breakout - AS6212 (Qwiic)

SEN-18521
$9.95

This SparkFun Qwiic Digital Temperature Sensor Breakout provides a combination of high temperature accuracy with excellent low power consumption using the AS6212 digital temperature sensor from ams AG. The sensor measures temperature data up to ±0.2°C; accuracy over a wide range (-40°C; to +125°C;) and consumes an average of 6µA in normal operation (0.1µA in standby). The AS6212 communicates via I2C and has eight available I2C addresses selected by a pair of solder jumpers on the board.

Retired

Designed exclusively with SparkFun's À la Carte custom board designer, the Toaster Oven Reflow Control Board is just that – a single, fully populated board for DIY temperature measurement and load control. Specifically, the board was designed for:

  • Controlling up to two heating coils rated up to 5A/120V AC (common for most toaster ovens)
  • Measuring up to two temperature inputs via K-Type thermocouples
  • Displaying current status via a backlit 16x2 character LCD
  • Reading an encoder with button select to create a simple user interface and menu navigation
  • Utilizing the Artemis controller module with built-in BLE for wireless controlling and monitoring

In addition, the I2C bus is available via the on-board Qwiic, the second UART and SPI pins are brought out to empty PTH solder points.

Steedan MA350 – Low Profile, 5-in-1 Magnetic Mount Combination Antenna

WRL-17732
$231.50

The Taoglas Steedan MA350 is a 5-in-1 next-generation low profile magnetic mount antenna for a vehicle, outdoor building, and heavy equipment roof applications. It has a fully IP65 rated waterproof robust ABS enclosure and base. This is an ideal external combination antenna solution that is used where drilling a hole through the roof of a vehicle or a metal panel is not feasible. It can be mounted on steel surfaces and its ultra-strong neodymium magnets. A soft foam cushion on the base protects the mounting surface during installation and removal. Only 48mm high it mounts discretely to the target application out of sight of most onlookers.

Hmm... with the ultra low power and the Qwiic connector on the new temperature sensor, it seems to me like a good pairing with the SparkFun RedBoard Artemis in ultra low power mode...
