Hello everyone and happy Friday, once again! We are back with another week of new products off the heels of another successful Dumpster Dive event. We are ready to show off what we have for you this fine Friday and we are going to start with our new DA16200 Thing Plus. This new WiFi development platform is sure to impress with its ultra-low power mode and Feather-compatible form-factor. Following that, our new ESP32 IoT RedBoard is receiving its own starter kit! Don't worry, we have a guide for that! Now, let's jump in and take a closer look at this week's two new products.

Low Power WiFi capabilities with Thing Plus!

$34.95

The SparkFun DA16200 Thing Plus utilizes a highly integrated ultra-low power WiFi system on chip (SoC) from Dialog that allows users to develop WiFi and IoT solutions. The DA16200 module contains an 802.11b/g/n radio (PHY), a baseband processor, a media access controller (MAC), on-chip memory and a host networking application processor all on a single silicon die. To make the Thing Plus as easy to use as possible, we've made the board Feather-compatible and it utilizes our handy Qwiic Connect System which means no soldering or shields are required to connect it to the rest of your system!

Worth noting that the RedBoard - ESP32 is NOT 5V logic tollerant. FWIW, the most recent addition to my collection of "shields" is one I built from a kit that requires 5V. (Believe it or not, it's a "magnetic core memory" board -- a real throwback to 1950s technology!) It seems to work fine, though, with a RedBoard Plus.

P.S. I just looked at the web page for the shield kit, and it's now listed as "Retired". :-(
