Want to hear some fresh beats?

Quick addition to today's post - just want to let everyone know SparkFun will be closed on July 4th (Wednesday) in recognition of Independence Day. We'll resume normal operations on the 5th!

Each year at the SparkFun Autonomous Vehicle Competition, a group of employees join together to form a SparkFun band that plays music during the downtimes of the race. While the makeup of the group has changed over the years, they continue to rock out with original tunes to act as the soundtrack for the race. In short, they are pretty great!

The band is composed of three SparkFun employees - Pete Lewis (Testing Guru), Matt Johnson (Assembly Technician), and Casey Dentinger (IT Developer). This year, the band hopes to record some of their best songs and put together a CD! If you'd like to get a CD (or a limited edition band poster) check out their Kickstarter page! If you head over there, there are also some samples of several of their best songs from the actual event. Enjoy the music - and rock on!

  • Sweet! Rock on, Miles Per Gallon! (Is that still their name?) I'm hoping the CD has one of their early hits, Donuts Coffee Muffins!

Neat, but typo on the Kickstarter page: "Shrink rapped for protection!" At least it has two 'p's.

  • You gotta love that Fender Telecaster!

      That's a Stratocaster.

      • No, But he does have a Strat in the beginning image. I am talking about the ice white Tele when there in the house. What guitar do you have?

Hah! this is awesome. I remember hearing them online last year and thinking, "Hey those guys are pretty good" I'm glad they decided to make it legit. Now Sparkfun can say that they're temporarily a record company =P
