Qwiic Expansion Board for Onion Omega

The Qwiic Expansion Board for the Onion Omega allows you to easily attach the large catalog of breakout and development boards utilizing the SparkFun Qwiic Connect System to be operated by the powerful Omega! This Expansion Board is equipped with four individual Qwiic connectors and easily plugs into the Expansion Dock. With it, you will be able to combine and have full control over what kind of project you design for your Qwiic and Omega boards!

The Onion Omega boards we carry are separated into three different categories: Mainboard, Dock, and Expansion Board. This board falls into the Expansion Board category, meaning you will need an Omega Dock that is equipped with a 30-pin Expansion Header like the Expansion Dock or Arduino Dock R2.

The SparkFun Qwiic Connect System is an ecosystem of I2C sensors, actuators, shields and cables that make prototyping faster and less prone to error. All Qwiic-enabled boards use a common 1mm pitch, 4-pin JST connector. This reduces the amount of required PCB space, and polarized connections mean you can’t hook it up wrong.

  • 4x Qwiic Connectors
  • 30-pin Expansion Pins

The examples app in the Onion web app does not show any qwiic devices and the python module fails to install. Is this thing still supported?

No support, basically non functional.

If you are buying qwiic devices you do so to use the ecosystem of sensors and dev packages. The python module will not install on the omega, omega uses a custom i2c library and this basically leads to a useless device.
