USB to Serial IC - CH340E (10 Pack)

The USB to Serial CH340E IC is a USB bus conversion chip, it can realize USB to UART interface or USB to printer interface. In serial UART mode, CH340E provides common MODEM liaison signal, used to expand UART interface of computer or upgrade the common serial device to USB bus directly. CH340 is a 3x3mm tiny chip comes in MSOP10 package and has 10 pins. The CH340E has a built in crystal.

    This chip is the same size as the Si5351 which I have hand soldered many times. Not the easiest part to solder, but doable, and breakout DIP boards are available. (actually, I think that a mini, micro, or USB-C connector would be HARDER to solder!)

    Is there an EagleCAD footprint available for this? I have a project i would like to use this on right away. No footprint is available from Mouser, so i thought i would ask you directly?

    P.S. Will this chip trigger the reset line when uploading a program to an arduino chip or will i need to push the reset button manually?

      I believe that information should be in the datasheet.

      That being said, I think I saw that the package was added to our eagle library. Also, we use this chip on this Artemis thing plus, see the schematic.

    Do you sell the CH340C variant in a similar 10-pack or are planning to? I've loved using it on the RedBoard Qwiic and I'm designing my own board that uses it, but I'm having a heck of a time finding it through a distributor.

    Alternatively, would this be a suitable replacement for the CH340C?

    What is the driver situation with this chip? Is there someplace that gives an example of programming the configuration EEPROM? The datasheet is awfully sketchy.

      As @ppelleti mentions, there is no EEPROM to configure. Also, there is a driver installation guide linked above; otherwise, you can download them directly from the chip manufacturer.

      My understanding of the datasheet is that only the CH340B has an EEPROM, and the item for sale here is the CH340E. So, no EEPROM to configure, I believe.

      Driver-wise, I know this is supported out-of-the-box on Linux, without needing to install drivers. I'm less sure what the driver situation is for Windows and Mac OS.
