Digital Voltmeter Ammeter 30V 10A Red and Blue

While a DMM is great for a quick check, a panel mount current and volt meter is handy when you need to constantly monitor a system. Battery backed systems can be quickly diagnosed by checking the overall system voltage; run times can be calculated based on the instantaneous current consumption rates. For all those times and more, it's just super handy to have a meter available.

This digital combination DC current/volt meter measures up to 30V and 10A using approximately 15mA quiescent current. All units come pre-calibrated but can be further calibrated once installed using small trimpot on the back side of the device.

The wiring diagram shows a normal hookup. The thicker 2-pin wiring harness is for the ammeter and is normally wired into the current return path to the battery or ground. The thinner 3-pin wiring harness if for the voltmeter. The black wire on the 3-pin harness is internally connected to the ammeter and can be left NC (not connected) or to ground. The Red wire of the ammeter should be attached to the system and the Black wire of the ammeter should be connected to ground otherwise the system will work fine, but the meter will display 0.00 as it cannot display negative values.

Perfect

It's cute, useful, easy to set up, and cheap. What else could I ask for? Very fun little device. I'm using it as an external measuring device for a Pixhawk drone HIL, as it seemed like it could be quite convenient.

Not quite perfect

Spent about an hour playing with this. It will work fine for some applications. Anyone trying to hook this up should be aware of a couple of things. First of all, the hookup diagram in the product page is correct (white wire to system power) but the written description is obviously wrong since it doesn't even mention the white wire. Maybe SFE will fix that. Second, the display only goes to 2 decimal points, which means if your project is drawing 10mA or less or right on the edge it will show 0.00A. That left me wondering if I had a bad unit, but it's fine with higher current projects.

Works perfect

Wanted to build myself a quick and cost-effective DC adjustable power supply, using this for monitoring the output. Hookup guide slightly hard to understand but works just fine. Slight flicker of the LEDs, with how I'm using it. Wish it was in stock on DigiKey to combine with my order.
