SparkFun SSOP to DIP Adapter - 8-Pin

8-Pin SSOP to DIP break out board. The footprint was rotated to accommodate different width SSOP devices and can be used with 8 pin SSOPs. Designed to be used with 0.65mm pitch devices but can also be used with 0.025" pitch devices (comes out to ~0.635mm). We've made these 0.635mm devices fit just fine. Can be used with packages from 0.200" (5mm) up to 0.450" (11.4mm) in width.

40 Pin break-away headers are perfect for use with these custom PCBs. Machine pin headers may be a better option for IC sockets. Pad layout fits all standard SSOP .65mm and can accommodate .635mm pitch devices.

  • 8-pin: 0.6 x 0.4" (15.24 x 10.16mm) 500mil DIP spacing
  • 16-pin: 1.0 x 0.4" (25.4 x 10.16mm) 400mil DIP spacing
  • 20-pin: 0.8 x 1.0" (20.32 x 25.4mm) 700mil DIP spacing
  • 28-pin: 1.4 x 0.7" (35.56 x 17.78mm) 600mil DIP spacing.

    I have the same issues ad RobBrownNZ with Crystal Oscillator Driver (http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/sn74lvc1404.pdf) SN74LVC1404

    I don't see why you wouldn't bring the pads in more so narrow parts with 0.65mm pitch could still use the breakout board. I will have to go someplace else I guess. :(

    I have some devices (SN74LVC2T45 level converters, http://focus.ti.com/lit/ds/sces516i/sces516i.pdf) that are 0.65mm pitch but the total width is only 4mm (3.75mm minimum). I can't find an adapter to fit them! If you revise this board, would you please consider making them to fit narrower packages?
    Also, I think they're too expensive. I guess the price comes from them being small and fiddly, but perhaps you could make them cheaper by making them in a strip of (say) 10 that are not completely routed out from each other? Believe me, I think that SparkFun's prices are generally really good but I just think these little adapter boards are an exception :)

    Yes, these should work with MSOP-8. Since these SMT pads are so long, the width across the IC body is not very critical and so this can handle several different package types as long as the pin pitch is 0.65 mm (or very close)
