DC/DC Converter - 5V 5W (R-78E)
This R-78E DC/DC Converter is a switching regulator module that has been designed to offer all the advantages of a switching regulator (high efficiency, wide input range, accurate output voltage regulation) but at an economic cost with the ease of adding it to your project.
Due to the R-78E’s high efficiency of up to 91 percent at an output voltage of 5V/1A at the output, no heat sink is required. The compact TO-220 compatible SIP3 package measures only 11.6mm x 8.5mm x 10.4mm, saving precious board space.

I'd buy this again. it's very handy for prototyping on a breadboard, with 3.3 and 5V available simultaneously, and pins on the bottom for the breadboard and on top for other uses.
Works perfectly.
I got this to regulate 12v down to 5v for an SAMD21 board that had a 5v to 3.3v regulator built in. This buck converter worked perfectly and has a very small footprint. Highly recommend.
What is it mean by soft start on the power supply? Was reading datasheet.
ERROR on the description.... min input voltage is 8V...datasheet says 7V is for the 3.3v output version of this...
This little guy is so cool!! I wish it regulated to more than 5v 1A though.
This is perfect! Any chance a similar (all in one with no supporting components) step-up is on the way? Preferably one that comes with adjustable or varying outputs.
