Digital Tweezers Multimeter

Replacement: None. We don't carry a direct replacement for this tool, but check out our tools category for more hand tools and instruments. This page is for reference only.

These were so novel we just had to try them. This is a small hand-held tool that allows the user to test capacitance, resistance, and inductance in circuit. Squeeze the probe tips around a surface mount component or test point and get instant, auto-range, auto-identification of parts and values. The display is easy to read and the unit is well designed to fit either a right handed or left handed user (finally something for lefties). RLC measurement is only the tip of the iceberg. This unit capable of voltage, continuity, and frequency measurements as well.

I think there is a typo in the specification:
    Specifications:
    Operating Temperature: 0C to +55C
    Storage Temperature: 40C to +60C
    Relative Humidity: 0 to 90%
Battery Type: 1.5V LR44 Alkaline or Air zinc
Battery Life: 80 Hours typical with alkaline, 240 hours with air zinc battery
Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC): FCC 15 part B
    Warranty: 1 year
    Storage Temperatre, shouldn't that be -40 C to +60 C?

Couldn't you get the same effect for 1% of the cost by simply putting leads to banana jacks on onto a cheap pair of tweezers, and plugging into an existing DMM? Finding a pair of tweezers which are isolated might be a minor challenge, but I'm sure that it would be easy to peel a pair apart and epoxy them back together, or you can pick up a pre-made,well-insulated one, like the $27 model here: http://www.alliedelec.com/search/productdetail.aspx?SKU=8856271
Looks like a nice DMM, but I already have one of those, and a $300 specialty tool feels a little steep for your weekend hacker customer base.
