Compass Module with Tilt Compensation - OS4000-T

Replacement: None. We are no longer carrying this module but check out our other magneto sensors! This page is for reference only.

The OS4000-T has an extremely small form factor (0.6x0.6? square), even smaller than the OS5000-S. This tiny module contains a high resolution three axis, tilt compensated digital compass. The flexible design uses a simple TTL serial connection for system integration. The OS4000-T provides precise heading, roll and pitch data ideal for rapid attitude measurement. The compass offers an easy to use ASCII interface which includes hard-iron calibration and simple data configuration for your application.

Note: This module has a 1.27mm pitch connector and the cable below in the related items can be used on this board. However, you will might need to cut the connector to get the cable on all of the usable pins.

  • Precision Compass:
    • 0.5 degrees nominal heading accuracy
    • 0.1 resolution
  • Roll & Pitch full rotation (<1 degree (0-60 degrees))
  • Tilt-compensated (electronically gimbaled)
  • Hard and soft-iron compensation routines
  • 3 Axis Honeywell Magneto Resistive Sensors
  • 3 Axis ST Accelerometer for Roll and Pitch Angle Measurement (Full Range)
  • Design uses 24 bit A/D converter
  • 50 MIPS processor supporting IEEE floating point math
  • TTL Serial version (19200bps default) - software CD is included!
  • 20 Pin 1.27mm spaced headers connect to all pins of the compass module
  • Baud rate programmable: 4,800 to 115,000 baud
  • Low Power Circuit Consumption: 3.3V ? 5V @ <30ma
  • High data update rate to 40HZ
  • Support for True or Magnetic North output
  • Operating temperature: -20C to 70C (-40C to 85C storage)
  • OS4000-T is the smaller version of the OS5000-S Compass* 0.12x0.6x0.6?
  • Less than 2g

does it connect to a ttl breakout board?
it should but i cant find which header is which as there is no schematics, the manual is extensive other then that.

How does this differ from SEN-08656? They bothy appear to give the same outputs, but this one is slightly more accurate?
