Arduino Main Board Retail

Replacement:RTL-10175. The new retail kit now includes the Arduino Uno. This page is for reference only.

This is the same product as the Arduino Main Board. The difference is this version comes in fancy clamshell packaging meant for our distributors that need it. Regular customers are welcome to order, but we want to limit the amount of extra packaging finding its way into the trash heap. An Arduino quickstart guide is available!

Arduino is an open-source physical computing platform based on a simple i/o board and a development environment that implements the Processing/Wiring language. Arduino can be used to develop stand-alone interactive objects or can be connected to software on your computer (e.g. Flash, Processing, MaxMSP). The open-source IDE can be downloaded for free (currently for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux).

This is the new Arduino Duemilanove. The Duemilanove automatically selects the appropriate power supply (USB or external power). A great description of the new functionality can be found here (USB fuse protection, software reset, and much more!). Board comes fully assembled and tested with ATMega328 pre-loaded with bootloader. Please see the Arduino support forum for more information about this new board revision and bootloader.

  • This needs an update... The only reason I got retail packaging was ebcause I wanted to get 2 more Duemilanove's... They showed up today... I am now the daddy of 2 Arduino Uno's...

    • This shouldn't have happened. Contact customerservice@sparkfun.com and we can get them swapped out. These are still the Duemilanove, not the Uno.

      • I see what happened... I ordered the Duemilanove's... But now you guys listed the Uno under the same exact name... So who ever packaged it saw the name and the price (I got it literally minutes before the price drop at $30:95), and sent the new Uno's. Still sucks that i wasted like 10 bucks instead of waiting an hour... Oh well...

      • Wow! My friggen luck! I ordered them at like 30 bucks each...
Now, they're 25... Not your fault, it just sucks...

  • Are you still shipping these with duemillinoves? or are you substituting the new uno's in?

    • They ship with the Duemilanove. We will have a new version sometime with the Uno. The packaging is specific to the Duemilanove.

We're talking about vending machines. And no, I'm not kidding.

It looks really nice. That said, I notice the back says, referring to the USB cable, "(commonly found w/USB printers)". I think writing out "with" in full would better serve the helpful and descriptive intent of this note :) (and it would seem the packaging can accommodate it)

    +1 for recycled paper :D

i like how you guys always send stuff in a box with a paper filler instead of those foam kernels. Since I started buying stuff from you guys, I get really annoyed when other companies send stuff with too much extra packaging.

    • We used to send packages with a corn based packing peanut. That was soon replaced by the recycled paper. Glad you like it. We sure do to. A lot less mess involved with the paper. Thanks!

Im still waiting for my first order to come in, but I LOVE that recycled paper packing. My cat loves the stuff to.

I swear to god if you start mailing me stuff packed in these I'll be pissed. (Not that I think you will). Great to see that your packaging stuff for normal retailers, but I hate the plastic packaging with a burning vengeance. The only thing it manages to is stab you repeatedly and warp under normal scissors. Makes me have to break out the pliers and start slicing off sides...

    • I completely understand, hence the big disclaimer about 'for distributors that need it'. We figured there would be a few normal customers that would want it for gifts and such. If you're like me, skip this product and get just the board.
These are easy to open, but they are heat sealed in two spots to prevent them from opening in transit (imaging a box of 100 joystick shield kits popping open = fail). Opening these does require some pulling, but not much.

Ah, it would seem your right. Hurray for people using ACTUAL useful packaging.

If you haven't looked at the picture, it is the easy, snap open kind.

Wow, getting all snazzy with retail bubble packs!?
