New Product Friday: Stuff!

Friday. New Products. Check it.

Another seven days has elapsed since our last round of new products. That means we need to regroup, talk about what's new, and post up a video. Enjoy.

If you have a shiny new B+, be sure to check out the cases, they're pretty slick!

We now have the clear cases in stock for the Raspberry Pi B+. This is the same as the black case, with easy access to all the inputs and outputs as well as the GPIO cable, camera header, etc. It even has some little feet on the back, and key-slots for wall-mounting.

This cable is a slightly different variant of our FTDI cables that works well with the Raspberry Pi or other boards that need a simple USB to TTL cable. The cable has a USB on one end and 4 female plugs on the other for TX, RX, VCC and GND. There's an FTDI FT232 embedded inside.

Need a simple microSD reader for your devices? Check out this simple (and tiny) microSD card reader. It plugs directly into your USB port and has a little lanyard thing on it. More and more devices use microSD, so make sure you always have access to a reader!

Aaaaand, that's all I've got for this week! Thanks for looking, watching, weeping, laughing, and we'll be back again next week with more new goodies.

  • I enjoy new product Fridays! I have a question on the FTDI cable. What do you mean by "It's a 3 volt cable"? And just an observation...the new RPi B+ was supposed to reduce its octopus nature, but imagining cables coming from all the cutouts on the new case...it is still an octopus. I am glad they went to a micro SD card. I broke mine due to forgetting the SD card was sticking out and leveraging the very fragile plastic SD guide rail off of one side. I had to solder in a replacement SD card reader. :-)

  • I thoroughly enjoy watching the new product videos, and I know you guys a really busy with the move coming up, but this is the weakest npf video you guys have made to date. Same product, different color, a cable, and letting us know you have an already existing product back in stock... I still love you guys though.

    • I work with what I've got. It's not like we really plan out the new products, they just show up, and I talk about whatever we have for that week. There's bound to be a dud week here and there.

But hey, there's probably someone out there that was REALLY anxious to see the clear pi case, or the FTDI cable, etc.

  • Hope nobody else had as many interruptions as I had! Sat down to enjoy watching another NPF, when the phone rang showing "Homestead, FL" on the ID -- when I answered, it turned out to be one of those "Windows support" phishes. He asked if I was having trouble with my computer, I responded "only with people trying to steal money by making fake calls" and hung up. Just then a Jehovah's Witness knocked on the door... after dealing with her in what I consider to be an appropriate manner, I finally managed to get back to my coffee and NPF video...

  • The link to the B+ and the microSD card reader are both broken.

  • Um, Rob, your Markdown parenthesis is dangling in the last paragraph.
