The SparkFun Antimov competition is nearly upon us - less than one week until total mayhem descends on SparkFun HQ. Before the fun begins, we wanted to announce a few updates.
First off, the unfortunate news. As you may or may not be aware, Boulder County has had some pretty terrible fires in the last couple months. The Fourmile Canyon Fire will go down as the most destructive fire in recorded Colorado history. As such, there is a fire ban in Boulder County. We spoke with the local fire department and even went straight to the fire marshal, but there is no circumventing this rule. Therefore, there will be no robots that self-destruct via flames at the Antimov competition this year. We were hoping the fire ban would be lifted (and there has been some rain the past few days, so maybe there is hope), but as of right now - no fires. Sorry!
In more exciting news, Tyler in our production department has completed the Antimov Trophy! Check it out! Now who wouldn't want that piece of art on their mantle!
Lastly, if you plan on attending the Antimov as a spectator, here is a reminder that you should register! We are giving EventBrite a try, so please register there, print out your tickets, and bring them with you to the event. The event is this Saturday, October 16th, and teams will be arriving around 10 AM with the competition beginning around 11 AM. Hope to see you there!
