I’m interested in adding this fabric to the under a layer to a prom dress. In doing so are there some precautions I need to be aware of concerning heat or melting? Additionally, is there a way to manually shut off the fabric in a way, similar to LED lights or does the fabric just only light up when in a dim setting?

I have a bigger project I want to make with this stuff… is it possible to order a larger dimension piece of fabric?

Worst case I can buy multiple swatches and so some kind of layered sewing… And on that note – how easy is the fabric to sew? (Using a sewing machine to sew two pieces together?)

On the electrocute video they had a White fiber optic fabric… do you guys not offer it anymore? I’m in the middle of making an awesome LED Belle costume ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0QBmFNcHkM )
and my next costume will be a little girls Cinderella costsume. I’m still using LED and EL Wire in Cinderella but I’d love to do the swags on her hips out of fiber optic fabric. (you know gotta keep raising the bar!) I just don’t think the black will look right but I can Defiantly make the white work!

Solerbotics was helping out with a MakeFashion show, they tried what you want to do, here’s a small clip of the results http://instagram.com/p/kn_m8tkKmi/#

“This time, Tony Grimes dropped in to experiment with his fiber-optic cloth from SensingTex as an illuminating surface, but the included 5mm LED was not dazzling enough. Time to hack in our 3W RGB Star Controller! The plan was to shift the colors to change the overall color of the fabric, but is serendipitously didn’t work. Shifting the optical pickup across the lens of the LED split the light from the individual red, green, and blue elements to to different strands of the fiber optic cloth, making for a wicked speckled rainbow effect.”
