Received this with PIC18LF8490 version, somehow demo codes like the kitchen timer on the olimex website doesn't work. No lcd display after programming it. Any ideas? Or this board needs to be returned?

I made a kitchen timer using this board, and posted the code, as well as a hex file. You can download it at http://dave.abouav.com (click on "Electronic Gadgets" link on the left), and try it out.
Note that I did make a few modifications to the board for the LED, speaker, and vibrator that I added. But the LCD and buttons on the stock board should still work with my hex file.

  • As of 2009-Aug-17, the "Demo code" link is broken ( http://www.olimex.com/dev/soft/pic/PIC_LCD_source.zip goes to a "document not found" error on the Olimex website).
It appears that the LCD has a 7-digit, 13-segment ("8" + 3 radial diagonals on top and bottom) area, a 4-digit, 7-segment additional display, and some other indicators. I assume the demo code (once found) documents how to use this stuff.

Demo Code link's fixed. Also added a link to User's manual and some extra software examples.
