This is an un-soldered male iPod connector from PodGizmo. This product comes in three easy-to-assemble pieces. This iPod connector is more compact than the other styles we carry. It's also really similar to what's being shipped with new iPhones and iTouches these days.

why no black one?
We make the black ones, but SparkFun doesn't carry them at the moment. You can get them here iPhone Style 4 Black Be sure to call SF customer service and ask them to carry the black ones though.
What is the pitch on the leads? I'd like to source a few chip resistors to place directly inside the connector, enabling Line-Out and disabling incompatibility messages. Most people like axial resistors for this, but I can see space issues..
The connector is missing a rubber strain relief piece. The other connectors (styles #1 and #2) are also missing strain relief, I don't know what the deal is.
Otherwise this connector works well. It lacks the locking pins that the styles #1 and #2 have, that you have to squeeze to unlock and remove the connector. So if you're worried about the connector falling out, get style #1 or #2. This connector is "low profile" so is better if you're worried about the connector getting knocked and damaging your iPod's dock.
