Description: An adjustable potentiometer can open up many interesting user interfaces. Turn the pot and the resistance changes. Connect VCC to an outer pin, GND to the other, and the center pin will have a voltage that varies from 0 to VCC depending on the rotation of the pot. Hook the center pin to an ADC on a microcontroller and get a variable input from the user!

This pot has a 1/4" mounting diameter and has a 4.7K linear taper. Check the datasheet for dimensional drawings.

  • Do I need an IC for this to control voltage? I am a rookie lol… and what is the difference between 10k and 4.7k?

  • Can someone confirm that the Potentiometer Knob (COM-08828) related below does fit these new pots?
    In the comments it mentions a cutout for locating and it appears these new pots don’t have that.

    • there are many new knobs available: COM-10001 take a look at the bottom of that product page for more.

    • I would assume not.
      Other commenters have said the friction-fit knob relies on a D-shaped pot shaft. These don’t have that.
