    the other thing is color/quality
    i did a project using an rgb led from sf. with the led full on, i can get white.
    so i bought 100 more from ebay. with those leds full on, i get a very blue white. not the end of the world, but not perfect. sometimes i wonder if components from ebay/china are rejects that are sold out the back door.

    Well, i was gonna spark and say that seemed awful pricey, but after doing my research, it's not. How bout smaller quantities? 20? 50?

      If you want cheaper price, you can go to ebay and there are a lot a suppliers from China or Hongkong that sell the same LEDs for less (these are made in China anyway), and even free shipping.
      Problem with that is it takes 2 or 3 weeks to come in. For that reason, I rarely order from them.

        True that. Recently, I ordered a boatload (literally) of various LEDs from China, via eBay. The price seemed unbeatable, but shipping time took FOREVER - just over a month door-to-door.
        Didn't realize Sparkfun had these in bulk - I know where I'll be getting my blinkies from now on!
