Qwiic Humidity Sensor - SHTC3

This product has gone red! The SparkX version is just as good, and now on sale!

Sensirion's SHTC3 digital humidity sensor builds on the success of their SHTC1 sensor. The SHTC3 has a broader supply voltage range (1.62V to 3.6V) and higher accuracy (±2% RH, ±0.2°C) than its predecessor, enabling greater flexibility.

The SHTC3 is low cost, easy-to-use, highly accurate, digital humidity and temperature sensor. This sensor is ideal for environmental sensing and data logging and perfect for build a weather stations or humidor control system. All you need are two lines for I2C communication, and you’ll have relative humidity readings and very accurate temperature readings as a bonus!

Hook up is a breeze with as the breakout board is using the Qwiic connect system. The breakout board has built-in 2.2kΩ pullup resistors for I2C communications. If you’re hooking up multiple I2C devices on the same bus, you may want to disable these resistors.

NOTE: The I2C address of the SHTC3 is 0x70 and is hardware defined. A multiplexer/Mux is required to communicate to multiple SHTC3 sensors on a single bus. Sadly this is the same I2C address our Qwiic Mux uses and this part is not compatible with the Qwiic Mux.

  • n1ist / last year / 1

Per the data sheet, the address is 0x70, not 0x71

  • Is it possible to change the I2C address to get a second device on the same I2C bus? I do see an I2C-labeled connection on the back, but couldn't find it anywhere in the document whether it is related to I2C addresses. Thanks

Very nice board to evaluate the SHTC3

Used this to evaluate SHTC3 at work. Easy to setup and get working with the arduino driver and example. Practical with the Qwiic to add other I2C units and the breakout was used to scope the I2C pins.

Works exactly as advertised

Easy to use with Qwiic cables, with the option to cut a trace to turn off the power LED (save power, like when running from a battery).
