  • Make sure you have access to a PC which actually has a real LPT port on it. Real LPT USB adapters are nigh impossible to find, if not non-existant; all adapters I have found are made to work only with a printer.
    If you want to use this with a laptop and do not have the option of a native or PCMCIA LPT port, this seemingly cheap solution is not an option.
    While the USB-Blaster from Altera is quite expensive at ($300) one of their Taiwanese partners (Terasic) offers their own clone for $50, with $36 shipping, or fromDigikey for $75 + tax and shipping.
