  • I believe you and the people replying to your post missed the fact that the motor power (volts/amps) is taken directly from the battery. If you noticed the schematic Vin feeds the Vreg as well as the L293 motor voltage. I will agree that an amp is really only meant to offer power to a bare RPi, and, a heatsink probably should have been included with the Vreg. Swapping for a higher current Vreg is definitely the easiest solution. Replacing the RPi’s terribly inefficient Vreg would be another option, but, nowhere near as easy as installing a higher rated, pin compatible Vreg on the addon board.
