• Tutorial - Using an Arduino to Program an AVR | about 3 years ago

Thanks, this was very helpful. As an absolute bare-bones beginner, there were a few things that confused me that I hope to clarify below for anyone else like me.

I used an Arduino Uno to update a sparkfun RGB Matrix. From the wording it wasn’t clear whether the wires on the arduino side should be hooked up to the Uno’s icp pins or in the numbered sockets. The wires should be in the sockets. Also, I had to use the switch “-F” to override the check of the device signature on the avrdude command. My command was as follows: “avrdude -P com3 -b 19200 -c avrisp -p m8 -F -v -e -U flash:w:RGB_Backpack_v5.hex”
Thanks again - this along with the RGB Matrix Library makes output a breeze!
