Pharoah, are you using 18650’s that are individually protected, or unprotected?

Just a heads up, the Micro-USB port on these is -very- fragile. Double check the two mounting tabs to ensure that they’ve been soldered on properly. I’ve had two jacks tear clean off the boards recently due to cold solder joints (or not even being in contact with the board in one case). Also, the mounting pads aren’t linked to anything (like the ground plane) so they can de-laminate from the board substrate quite easily. A dab of epoxy around the footprint of the connector should anchor it solidly, and prevent you from having to resort to hand soldering the jack back down.

The real loser in this is actually google’s OCR efforts. The sheer amount of false data they got today because of people wrestling with those nearly indecipherable captchas will set their efforts back a lot. Especially when people realized that the non-distorted word wasn’t actually checked.

Way to stick it to Google Sparkfun.

    8 hours of captchas - $0 Losing 8 hours of work - >$200 Finding a new supplier that’s -not- Sparkfun - Priceless

It’s going to be a while before I subject myself to Sparkfun again after this abomination.

Painful is an understatement. I’ll be forwarding the bills from my carporal tunnel surgery.

Captchas should really only be used to verify an idenity once (having one ever 5min or so would work too). Having one for every. single. try. is not only aggrivating but insulting as well.

It looks like the footprint for LED-TRICOLOR-5050 is the same, but the pinout is different. You might be able to adapt it (or just force-route to the correct pads).

Any chance there is Eagle compatibility for this part or a pinswappable one?

Any chance we can get rulers added to those pictures, or ideally some outermost dimensions?
Need to know if this will fit in a given space or not, and the 80x69mm dimension of the bottom face is great and all, but it clearly gets wider than that.

Data sheet link results in an error message?

While it is possible to cut EL wire to length, it’s a bit more complicated than just snipping the end and involves some pretty precise soldering of the two fine wires to the inner copper core wire.
Here’s a good site with some details on EL wire specifics:
And a great image of the physical structure of EL wire can be found here:
