  • I would have to go with the SparkFun Block for IntelĀ® Edison - UART. Having worked with a number of embedded linux systems including the IntelĀ® Galileo I'd have to say having direct wired access to the console via a FTDI cable is indispensable. When every other interface fails, having the ability to watch the boot process and get directly to a prompt is a life saver. Don't know how many times I had to dig through an online tutorial to get a wireless interface up and running correctly before being able to ssh in via wifi. Every time I could count on the UART console to make it work. Pick up one of these and the SparkFun FTDI Basic Breakout - 5V for a combo that can't be beat!
