    A recent Instructable contains lots of helpful material on the I2C Bus along with drivers and example code for the ATtiny2313 and the ATmega168. Has all that’s needed to control this chip.

    This approach works great. Because I wanted a bit more heat (I use lead-free solder), I used a hot plate. But I found that I needed much better control of the temperature than the hot plate had. For a detailed explanation, including how to build the controller, check out this Instructable.

    First, thanks for these guidelines and for sharing your Design Rules. Great Stuff!
    Here’s a concern: Your SF Design Rules say to use a 0.05 inch grid. But for the DFN design I did recently I found that I needed to use Metric (millimeter) mode to be able to define my footprint and to place and route it correctly. Would this be a violation of your design rules? I used 0.2mm line and space rules for routing - slightly under 8 mil. The boards I got back were perfect as near as I could tell.
    What guidance would you have for future similar designs?

    I spent some time digging for anything on the HD67790. I even tried the Wayback Machine to recover old info from Renesas, but no real luck. Here’re two minor points:
    - Looks like this part is much more closely related to the HD66781 than to the HD66789.
    - The part has no embedded RAM. There might be some on the module but I haven’t gotten mine to look for it.
    I’m going to try the Digikey 30 pin connector. I’ll let everyone know how it works.

    The data sheet you really want (for DC motor control) is found on the TI web site, but search for the L293 and grab that data sheet. Have a look at Figure 5 on Page 9 to see how to use the 754410 as a reversing controller - you can just ignore the anti-kick back resistors. Vcc2 is also handled in the 754410. The usual 7400 or 7404 (or similar) can be used to invert a single control signal, or a microcomputer (like ATTiny) can provide the inputs.
