    maculata:

    I use a working arduino UNO as ISP… what to do?
    Has nothing to do with MacOS…. I just tried the same thing.
    http://arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/ArduinoISP says:
    NOTE: Currently, you cannot use an Arduino Uno as an ISP programmer because the optiboot bootloader does not support this sketch. A revision for this is in progress.
    Aha, that explains it (I was using an ordinairy non-smd UNO as my ISP) So I´ll just have to wait until there is a fix for this?

    I´m also on osx, but seem to get a bit further. But when running the second command I get this:
    avrdude: stk500_getparm(): (a) protocol error, expect=0x14, resp=0x14
    avrdude: stk500_getparm(): (a) protocol error, expect=0x14, resp=0x02
    avrdude: stk500_getparm(): (a) protocol error, expect=0x14, resp=0x10
    Hardware Version: -1607250464
    Firmware Version: -1073746104.257552
    Topcard : STK502
    Vtarget : 1.8 V
    Varef : 0.0 V
    Oscillator : Off
    SCK period : 0.1 us
    avrdude: stk500_initialize(): (b) protocol error, expect=0x10, resp=0x01
    avrdude: initialization failed, rc=-1
    Double check connections and try again, or use -F to override
    this check.
    avrdude: stk500_disable(): protocol error, expect=0x14, resp=0x10
    avrdude done. Thank you.
