if your watching this image then it is already too late…I was experimenting with entanglement and somehow this led strip controlled by some mangled Arduino FFT code sent a random photons into the time/space continuum and created a some weird alternate universe where days just seemed to vanish from existence….now Halloween no longer exists, weeks have shortened, and if this continues Arduino’s will reproduce at alarming rates leaving the hacker-space devoid of any diversity…

I am sure Robert C understands you perfectly..I don’t think you understood him…

They sell hundreds, if not thousands of products. While it may seem trivial to you, converting all those numbers to the system YOU prefer is a lot of work. Instead, as he pointed out in English (might be US English, but I think it translates fine to UK English), is that they prefer to use the units the manufacturer provides.

The part about ‘lossy’ was just a polite way of saying (even in British terms), ‘you can do it yourself and get the same results I would’. Especially since with this crowd, if they were to make a mistake converting, many of you (I’m looking at you!) would go all ape-shit over it.

Can’t please all of the people, ‘specially when most of them think they’re experts….

Man..these are exciting times, I never would have imagined 20 yrs ago that one day I would be in total control with the ability to program my flashlight!

    /sarcasm off

What I would really love is a programmable FORK!

    /sarcasm truly off

Sounds to me like the manufacturer needs to do better QUA control on their products, but that has nothing to of with SF. They have no way of knowing EXACTLY how much is each, but at least they are telling us, and they also compensated for the difference (look at the other product listing for the price!). Other shops probably wouldn’t have bothered….

    take breath…release…wusaaaa..

    You must be new here…..

Never ceases to amaze me when people try to tell other people how to run their business, specifically when they themselves have probably never ran their own business.

I’ve driven to Micro center a few to get stuff because I didn’t want to wait for shipping. Further more for the people that want/need the retailer it’s there for them. Lastly, if no one knows about the retail products no one will seek them out, and if no one seeks them out SF will stop making them, then they will never get into Radio Shack (your choice)….

I know what I would love to see…. How about a intro series on hacking/understanding unknown devices via JTAG, etc.

For instance I have Spy Trackr at home, which I wanted to hack into a roaming surveillance camera (there is alot wildlife marching through my yard, (possums, deer, bears, oh my..) I love watching them and would like to record them and maybe follow them when I am not home. However, Wild planet dropped the ball and the dev tools are pretty crappy.

Now, I am about 20 yrs out of school and NO, I didnt study electronics. MY 40+ year old brain gets fatigued when i try to read and understand all the pre-req stuff for using JTAG. Now if I could get past the books and start to ‘touch’ stuff, I know I would be much more effective and learn a whole lot faster. So a tutorial series walking us through setting up JTAG and maybe dumping the memory, or starting a terminal window (if it runs linux, which the trakr does!!!) would be a godsend. Even if you geared the tutorial around your own products, I think it would go over really well.

    just my .14 cents (inflation!)

I don’t think the industry people are the ones creating the panic, its the media a.k.a. the bloggers that are creating the panic/hype.

IPv6 is necessary, and if you don’t start today it won’t be finished tomorrow (metaphor alert!!!!) and if dos vs windows is a bad example then how about 8 vs 16 vs 32 vs 64 bit address spaces?

But seriously, it is necessary, and unfortunately most people don’t care, don’t know, or don’t understand. and that’s how the over-hype gets started because the media gets to spin the story almost without regard. But that doesn’t negate the need or the need to start now. And starting now doesn’t mean the world will end if we don’t, it just means you can never finish if you never start.
