  • For the last few years PCI has required pump companies to encrypt data flowing between card reader and internal electronics. These types of skimmers are only effective against older hardware.

  • The pinout is mentioned in this document on page 7: 3rd party clock and data magstripe readers (mostly from Magtek) were standard in the industry for many years. Only with the new shift to EMV is that changing.
