  • Yes, but again, this is an entry-level device. It's here for that exact reason. Sparkfun is a jumping point for many people and for $15 to get your feet wet is much better than some of the other junk floating around.

  • What can be said that hasn't been said. The tube here is very good, they even have 1.5mm which is perfect for LED legs and covering bare bus wire.

  • I don't use 30 gauge wire, that stuff is just too tiny. I'll stick with my 22-26 gauge which this works like a charm with. Better than the Radio Shack standard stripper.

  • The manual rocks and the product rocks. It does a great job a heating up boards as well as shrinking tubes. Plus the instruction manual is worth passing around. Never had a problem with it overheating and it works, that's what matters.

  • These are very poorly made and slippery (don't open easily) making them very hard to work with. Go to Radio Shack and get a 10-pack for $7.99, you'll be happy you did.
