  • I like puzzles, so here we go... * Part Type/Values vs. Reference Numbers * Adjacent component clearances for MOSFETs * Screw head clearances (lower screws are smaller to clear Rs) * Screw heads over traces, silkscreen * Missing polarity mark for diode (nit: small 10uF would look nicer with a bar or angled outline vs. a dot) * Silkscreen over tented vias looks nicer

    For easier debug: * add pin number label to corners/ends of all high pincount parts (bonus points for tick mark every 10 pins) * add through hole testpoints for all voltages * add through hole ground testpoints

    Depending on the power budgets, add more copper on LDOs and space for MOSFET heatsinks.

  • Nice presentation! I'd love to see a followup on the fun, but dangerous, applications of inductors (maybe a field trip to the Tesla museum in CoSpgs? and an explanation of wireless charging?). On the other hand, this might be better left to the anonymous youtube posts.

    Given the outrageously hot June in Boulder, how about a live demo with suitable "volunteers", of the duality of voltage/current versus water pressure/flow?

    P.S. Transistor Man rocks, but jumbo paisleys are sweet too.

  • Many years ago, I saw an awesome artwork installation with a bunch of blinking LEDs on poles (Great Dome Gallery, MIT '83). At first it seemed amusing but not especially artistic. Then, as you swept your head away to leave, those blinking poles all spelled out messages and graphics. Think of a multiplexed X-Y display but only displayed in Y with your eyes and head movement doing the X scan. And who says that all that time spent at the Thirsty Ear was wasted...
