  • It’s not the lockbits but the capacitor (usually 100 nF) on the reset line. I followed the instructions about removing it at http://husks.wordpress.com/2010/02/21/modify-an-arduino-for-debugwire/ and that worked.

    (Sorry, I also posted the same thing as an independent comment instead of this reply because there was no “reply” link shown. Now it is. Weird website…)
