  • I find the MLX90614 sensor useful and reliable but had the same problems itemized below with this board coupled to a new ESP32 Thing Plus. Code will not compile. Reverted to a previous SF non-QWIIC breakout board of the same sensor, connected standard I2C wires on the board end, QWIIC on the bus end, used the Adafruit library, everything worked.

  • Wired this up okay (to Mega, using pins 20, 21 and 3.3V). Although I read about user calibration (also mentioned in the video) in the data sheet, and in some threads I even see mention of auto-calibration I see no explicit instructions here or on the Bildr tutorial. Simple, clean - but only if you know how to calibrate it?

  • Did a unplug-plug replacement for a 406A in a current application, same SparkFun GPS shield, same code, etc. Once I cycled the power switch on the shield, the 506 worked a treat.
