At 0:31 he says that you can do "real-time footage." Am I missing something? I'm not seeing any kind of transmitter, nor even a composite video out to send to a TV or transmitter.

I really like the concept, and appreciate the Spark Fun gives back to its customers. I hate to be negative, but to me this sounds like just another self-inflicted DDOS attack.
Basically there will be tens-of-thousands of people/bots sitting at home hitting F5 as quickly as they can. Every 12 seconds, one of those will get lucky and drop off the F5 bandwagon, only to get frustrated trying to finish his/her/its order elsewhere in the system.
Sorry, but I think I'll pass on wasting my time this year.

Sparkfun, If all you wanted was a DOS or DDOS test, I'd be happy to provide you with one for half of what you just spent on the free day...
I've got to agree with Nomad on his comments. The concept is fun, and it creates a lot of buzz around the Sparkfun name, which I know is ultimately what you're trying to do.
But, at the risk of sounding un-grateful, I think I fall into more of the resentment category that Nomad spoke of. I wasted another hour of my life before giving up, as I had real work to do. I don't think I'll bother next time if it's going to be another fiasco.
If you are really interested in giving back to your loyal customers, maybe tiered percentage discounts over the course of a few weeks or a month would be more appropriate. Alternatively, free shipping would be simple and easy to explain.
If it's just about the buzz however, next time I think I'll leave it up to the kids with no jobs to attack your servers.
