  • Did you miss “FREE WORLDWIDE SHIPPING” on the KS rewards?

I’m actually glad to see the prices are in-line - it means both GeekAmmo and SFE did their homework and got the pricing right in the first place. If they offered it too cheap to backers of the KS campaign they may have run out of money, and now SFE aren’t trying to rip us off if we missed the KS (not that they ever would!).

  • So does this version use RTS or the FTDI TXDEN signal to enable the SP3485 driver ?
The schematic seems to still be for the original version of the board.

  • For some info on pet RFID tags, plus a circuit and PC software for reading them, see http://maxmicrochip.com/

  • IMPORTANT NOTE: The datasheet posted is for the RFM12 (old model), not the RFM12B. The links to the IC datasheet and product page are also incorrect.
The RFM12B is only rated for 2.2-3.8 V supply. You really SHOULD NOT run these modules from 5V, although some people report no problems. They are intended for use in 3.3 V systems.
I found the trickiest thing with these modules is ensuing you supply packet data fast enough via the SPI interface. Ideally you should use hardware SPI, not bit-banging.
Also, I don’t believe that there is a usable signal strength indicator output, either digital or analog.

No public wish lists :(
