  • Could someone with this board hook it up and let me know the current draw without any components installed? basically what does this thing pull off the battery while on.

  • If anyone at sparkfun reads through these comments (I’m sure you will) Please pass this on: You guys rock. I hope to pass on the ideals you guys value onto the hackerspace I’ve started in town. I hope I can turn a few more capitalistic money mongers towards the idea that if you make something great, something that people will use, then the money might follow.. but to not be worried about it. I read somewhere “Let’s move away from ‘look what I can do’ and towards ‘look what I can teach you’ ”. I hope some day I can do what I love every day like you guys. Again, you guys rock!

  • Thanks pete. I enjoy the vids, this is usually the same process I follow to hack stuff apart.. where were you when I was 15 and a budding hacker?

  • Does anyone have the media or car dock for the Motorola Droid? .. will this work through the dock? Ideas?

  • a max3232 chip converts rs-232 signal to the 3v signal for the cell module.

  • Works great in North Dakota with a $6 t-mobile prepaid sim, and the $15 a month plan with unlimited text and $.10 a minute(i’ll never use). Data won’t work as t-mobile doesn’t support data while roaming. haven’t had any hiccups at all, works great. Other than bricking the device with the sparkfun breakout board :D

  • i ended up using a max3232 chip to connect directly to the board as apposed to using the breakout board from sparkfun, were you using the breakout board?

  • does anyone else have problems updating the firmware on this device?

  • Could you maybe post a picture of the entire page? are there any headings at the top? are there page numbers? how dark is the grid?.. oh and what part is black if the description says matte red flexible cover :D

  • Why is the diode missing in the working example?
